Chief Revenue Officer (CRO)

About This Role

This is a rare opportunity to join a fast-growing AI startup as the first revenue executive. You'll have complete ownership over our go-to-market strategy and the chance to build something from the ground up in the rapidly expanding mental health technology space.

Role Overview

As Okaya's first revenue executive, your immediate charter is simple but critical: deliver paying customers and hit our ARR target. You'll build the GTM engine from scratch—crafting playbooks, closing pilots, standing up ops—and turn it into a repeatable, scalable revenue machine.

This role requires a strategic thinker with a hands-on approach, capable of navigating the complexities of an early-stage startup while being a pivotal member of the team.

What You'll Own

Go-to-Market & Revenue Delivery (70%)

  • Revenue First: Own the ARR goal—close pilot deals, secure contracts, and generate predictable MRR from Day 1
  • Playbook Builder: Refine ICP, pricing tiers, packaging, and messaging; codify what works into processes
  • Metrics-Obsessed: Track pipeline velocity, LTV/CAC, and conversion rates; ruthlessly double down on high-impact levers

Demand Generation & Growth (20%)

  • Outbound Engine: Execute high-velocity LinkedIn campaigns to fuel MQLs and early closed-won deals
  • Content & Influencer ROI: Co-create case studies, webinars, "ethical AI" pieces; measure CTR, CPL, and direct pipeline
  • Scrappy Experiments: Rapidly test ABM, targeted ads, referrals—kill what doesn't drive revenue, scale what does

Community & Developer Ecosystem (10%)

  • Peer Support Hub: Launch and run a Slack/Discord community for practitioners and integration partners
  • Hackathons & Office Hours: Host events that convert developer interest into API integrations and paying users
  • Evangelism: Represent Okaya in niche forums, podcasts, and panels—generate leads and credibility

What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications

  • Generalist Builder: 5+ years in B2B SaaS sales, partnerships or ops—ideally healthcare or AI— You are someone who's taken revenue from $0 to scale
  • Results-Driven: You've closed deals yourself from $0 to scale, not just hired others to do it. Revenue isn't step two—it's step one
  • Data-Obsessed & Scrappy: Comfort with ambiguity, rapid iteration, and metrics over gut feel
  • People Leader: Proven ability to recruit, coach, and motivate a lean, high-velocity team
  • Connector & Storyteller: Equally effective selling in boardrooms and engaging in community channels

Nice-to-Haves

  • DevRel or Growth Marketing background
  • Hands-on familiarity with APIs, SDKs, and developer workflows
  • Prior mental-health, first responders, telehealth, or EAP experience
